This new overwater villa features a large terrace with a 10-metre private swimming pool, offering some of the island’s best views of the iconic Maldivian sunset. The villa can be connected to the COMO Sunset Water Villa via an overwater wooden walkway, or closed off for complete privacy.

COMO Water Villas

Situated on either side of the island, COMO Cocoa Island’s two COMO Water Villas – Sunset and Sunrise – are arranged with two separate wings, both featuring an en suite bedroom and a private terrace directly above the ocean. The wings are connected by the living and dining areas, with balconies on either side that let you step directly off the deck into the turquoise lagoon. There’s also a secluded deck, with a new private pool that almost touches the edge of the ocean.

Cocoa Island by COMO’s room service menu is wide and varied, as one would expect from one of the best Maldives luxury resorts. Available from 7am until 11pm daily, it includes healthy salads, open-face sandwiches and pastas.
For a refreshing pick-me-up in the sun, we offer lassis as well as chilled coconut milk and a variety of freshly prepared juice blends.

COMO Shambhala Cuisine incorporates organic ingredients rich in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals.
At Cocoa Island by COMO, our chefs also make ample use of the tandoor, a type of Indian oven that allows for the fat-free cooking of meats, vegetables and fish whist introducing a wonderful charcoal flavour.

Ufaa
Unique among restaurants in the Maldives, our talented, New Zealand-born Executive Chef Shane Avant draws inspiration from the Malabar Coast’s rich gourmet heritage and local seafood. He also creates modern interpretations of Southeast Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The kitchen’s tandoor oven allows for fat-free, flavour-rich grilling of meats, vegetables and fish.

Diving
Travellers have been fascinated by the Maldives for centuries, from the ancient Greeks to fourteenth-century travel writer Ibn Battuta, from cookery author Madhur Jaffrey to contemporary essayist Alain de Botton. All are drawn by the unique cultural exchanges that give life to these far-flung islands, from fishing to the spice trade to the Maldives’ Islamic religion. A number of the islands are turned over to tourism—among them, Cocoa Island by COMO (known locally as Makunufushi), a luxury resort regarded for its private locale as well as some of the best diving in the Indian Ocean.
All services mentioned in this COMO destination guide can be arranged or supplied to guests of Cocoa Island. Some, however, are available only be request, and are dependent upon local suppliers with Cocoa Island facilitating the experiences wherever possible.
Hydrotherapy Pool
COMO Shambhala Retreat at Cocoa Island has one of only a few hydrotherapy pools in the Maldives.
This therapy allows up to one litre of water to be absorbed into the body. The pool’s warm temperature eases muscles, meanwhile, while spiralling water jets help to increase the benefit of the pool’s massaging action.
Overall, the treatment serves to stimulate the metabolism and increase the function of the lymphatic and circulation systems to detoxify tissues and expel toxins.
Yoga
Knowing yoga in the Maldives to be popular, Cocoa Island by COMO integrates this holistic practice into the rhythm of island life by offering complimentary classes at our open-air yoga pavilion. Morning class every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8am to 9am followed by half hour of Pranayama and Meditation session. Sunset class from 4:30pm to 5:30pm every day (except Friday).
With private guided sessions, those looking for meditation in the Maldives can learn the healing powers of this traditional practice. Cocoa Island by COMO also offers tutelage in the deep yoga breathing technique known as pranayama.
